Do Not Become Overconfident in Poker
Confidence is wonderful attribute and everyone should possess some level of it. However, when it comes to playing poker becoming overly confident can have severe consequences. The truth of the matter is, the only confidence of poker player should strive to have is confidence that he/she can read the other players. Obviously, if the game is being played online, it will be much more difficult to read players. But it can be done, it just takes practice. One thing that happens when poker players become overly confident is that they begin to think they have learned everything there is to know about the game. This can be a fatal and rather costly mistake.
As with anything in life knowledge comes from practice. No matter what it is someone has decided to make a career or hobby out of, learning through a series of trials and errors will bring that person much more success than continuously believing he/she has all the answers. In poker, it is always necessary to keep in mind that there is never any guarantee of winning. While skill is important in the game of poker, there is also a certain element of chance involved. In fact, chances are when it comes to the game of poker luck takes up for about 70% of the actual outcome.
Many pros who have been playing poker for years and years know that one of the worst mistakes a player can make is to become cocky and know it all. There’s nothing more foolhardy than a player who is literally green acting as this he/she cannot be beat.
